Welcome to Just Dogs Academy
With more than 40 years experience as a dog trainer, we've perfected the best ways to teach techniques to both owners and their pets. We'll help you and your pet build a great relationship with each other.
We believe training is more than just teaching dogs commands - it's about showing them how to be a part of your family unit, with you as their "pack leader." We teach your dog how to look to you for leadership and companionship.
Success with Challenging Dogs
Some dogs - and owners, for that matter - are easier to teach than others. We've met just about every kind out there and successfully trained even the most challenging ones, including special needs owners and dogs.
Intimate Setting and Personal Attention
Everyone learns better in a small setting - and dogs are no different than people. We offer limited class sizes so we can devote time and attention to each dog and owner in the class, promoting a more successful learning experience.
Dogs ages two to five months will learn quickly in this five-week class that builds the foundation for a dog that will continue to be trainable and develop into a bonded companion for its owner and family.
Whether your dog is six months or six years old, it can continue to learn. This six-week class will establish and reinforce obedience while building a strong “pack” relationship between dog and owner.
Upon request, we can schedule one on one lessons for owners and their dogs. We understand that sometimes, this works better for the owner's schedule and the dog’s temperament, although socialization with other dogs is always encouraged.
About Our Business
Director of Training, June Guido, has a long, successful history working with dogs and their owners. Her passion for obedience training as a means for creating lasting, bonded relationships between pets and their owners is why she first got started as an instructor. But truly, June has been involved in just about every aspect of owning and caring for dogs.
" My puppy, Max, is not the easiest dog to deal with, and I was concerned that we would ultimately need to find another home for him. But with June’s guidance, Max and I have both learned how to correct our behavior. Max and I look forward to a very long, rewarding friendship. "

" June, we cannot thank you enough for all you have done for us. You took an immediate interest in us, our puppy and our individual needs. You listened, you modeled, you taught and you provided information and techniques. Because of you, we feel hopeful! "

" Kosmo will never be a show dog, but his training has paid off immensely. He is overall calmer and comes when he is called. We have got him to sit, down and stay for a treat. We still make time to play with him and work on his sits and stays every day, so the impact of the new baby has been minimal. "

We believe that all dogs, regardless of age, can be taught new capabilities (this goes for owners too!). If owners in our classes are committed to following our advice and working with their dogs, they will see behavior improvements and be better bonded to them.
